Statewide + Local Marketing Makes for the Most Complete Count!

This Local Complete Count Committee Toolkit was developed to help the local CCCs encourage and promote participation in the 2020 Census, and to augment the statewide advertising campaign efforts, to ensure a complete count of everyone living in Georgia.

The goal of the US Census is to count every living person once, only once, and in the right place. We know that many Georgians are considered “hard to count” because of language barriers,

socioeconomic status, geography, lack of access to the internet and other factors. For the first time, everyone will be able to fill out their census forms online, creating new concerns around security. For many millennials this is their first opportunity to fill out their census forms, and they may not understand why it is so necessary.

We are proud to embark on a marketing campaign that focuses on educating Georgians about the importance of the 2020 US Census.

We are proud to share the resulting consumer advertising campaign: Every. One. Counts. This campaign highlights a diversity of real Georgians, from all over the state, and talks about the programs that Census data affects for them personally.

Because the census is about federal dollars flowing from Washington to Georgia for important things like healthcare, education, transportation, senior care, foster care, agriculture and more. These are things that affect millions of residents in our state. It’s also about representation, from our representatives in Congress all the way down to our local school board members.

The campaign will have many components, from statewide television spots to the most localized, grassroot effort.

While the State marketing and media plan will include statewide coverage, our hope is that Local Complete Count Committee members will share the campaign in their own communities-- on websites, local TV or radio stations, billboards and social media channels.

We are relying on you to take this campaign to your own community. We will be most successful if we utilize the same messages seen in the statewide media campaign.   That consistency will give us most bang for our buck—via the collective power of one simple message.

Thank you so much for your help with this effort! And don't forget to tag #EveryOneCountsGA in social media!

All our best,

Lori Geary & Tharon Johnson
