About the Committee

On October 15, 2009, Governor Sonny Perdue announced the appointment of 43 government, business and community leaders from across the state to compose Georgia's Complete Count Committee for Census 2010. Co-chairs Mike Beatty, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, and Debra Lyons, Director of the Governor's Office of Workforce Development, organized the members into six subcommittees representing Business, Community, Education, Faith-Based, Government and Media.

In Febraury 2010, the Georgia General Assembly passed resolutions supporting Census 2010, by declaring 'Georgia Census Week, March 8- 14, 2010', by recognizing Georgia's State and Local Complete Count Committees, and by encouraging all residents to fully participate in the count.
