November 2009 Meeting

The first meeting of the Georgia Census 2010 Complete Count Committee was an extremely productive session. After Co-Chairs Mike Beatty and Debra Lyons convened the meeting, welcomed and charged the new committee, all the attending members and staff from supporting agencies introduced themselves. Marilyn Stephens, US census Bureau Complete Count Coordinator for the Southeastern region, provided an insightful overview of Census 2010 and Complete Count activities, challenges and opportunities. (See Marilyn Stephens' presentation)

Robert Giacomini, Governor's Office of Planning and Budget, summarized the activities of the Georgia Complete Count effort that he led a decade earlier during Census 2000.

Joe Doyle, Director, Governor's Office of Customer Service, advised the committee on how to optimize limited time, resources, and messaging to provide exceptional customer service to all those engaged in this census promotional initiative.

Jim Finch, DCA Deputy Commissioner, described the Subcommittee organization and resource development for the Complete Count initiative, setting the stage for the first Sub-committee break-out meetings. (See Subcommittee Breakout Session Consolidated Report)
